UPDATE: Police Identify I-84 Pedestrian Killed

Tractor trailer struck pedestrian on I-84 Wednesay before 1:30 p.m.


UPDATE:
The man struck and killed by a tractor trailer truck Thursday was identified by police as Jonathan Rich of Ridgefield.

UPDATE:
Connecticut State Police said the victim, a 52-year-old from Connecticut, was killed by a truck on I-84 at about 1 p.m. Wednesday, and he may have walked into traffic intentionally. Police did not identify the man, but said he was saying things consistent with people considering suicide. No further information was available.

I-84 is open westbound as of 4 p.m., but it remains heavily congested east of exit 6 in Danbury.

Origional Story: Connecticut State Police had closed I-84 westbound at exit 6 to investigate the death of a pedestrian struck by a tractor trailer truck at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Connecticut State Police Liet. Paul Vance said the highway is closed and the accident is under investigation. He said he doesn't know if the pedestrian is a man or a woman. He said a tractor trailer truck hit the pedestrian, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

He said police will release more information later this afternoon or evening.
