Good article. Danbury is diverse, clean and open for business for all. CityCenter crews areRead More powerwashing the sidewalks and walkways, and it's looking just great! Danbury is becoming a very vital community of fashion, food, and culture!

These people deserve to stay. They've put up with enough harassment & death threats, and areRead More now being bullied by the police. It's disgusting to have this racist slime in our local community.
g May 16, 2013 at 04:49 pm
If we are to have open immigration, maybe it should be by treaty and perhaps U.S. citizens canRead More automatically have full status in any country that wants it's citizens to have automatic U.S. status in. My understanding is Mexico discriminates against non-Mexican citizens with respect to property purchases. Maybe we need to assure that status is a two way street, and any U.S. citizen who buys property in Mexico won't have it seized for not being a citizen.
Black People are ANIMALS May 16, 2013 at 12:17 pm
The only "status" that these shitskins deserve is hanging from OAK TREES. Illegal isRead More illegal!!!

I am not sure I like the new format. It will probaby take getting used too. Looks like it has moreRead More info on the Patch, but it is harder to find what I'm looking for.

Thanks Mark, For years, I've bought from the Dutchess on Newtown road in Danbury, knowing theyRead More failed inspection from time to time, but this is the last straw. Sorry Dutchess, my family is done with you (at least on Newtown road).

Sorry Mort that I didn't catch the misspell, I guess when you don't agree with a statement the bestRead More thing to do is insult the writer. Nice job. Don't like The Patch Mort? Don't read it Mort.

I must say, that this is a better explanation of the scoring system, than previously seen, by me.Read More Not perfect, but much improved. Thank you.

Every issue has two sides. Perhaps the Legislature should look at why Employers have the right in CTRead More to terminate employees for any or NO reason. Employers should have to justify any and all workplace issues instead of using fear and intimidation to manipulate their employees.
Reasonable? May 2, 2013 at 04:16 pm
Once again confirming that our legislature is full of incompetent amatures who don't consider all ofRead More the consequences of their "feel good" bills.

So sorry this man died. but all the visits I've had at the Danbury Hospital have been quite good.Read More Very carreful and caring. But it does not dismiss the mishandling of this gentleman.
Marc Kuffler April 12, 2013 at 01:15 pm
One more thing: PTR could have issued a statement supporting the new legislation and responsible useRead More of their products. They do make great quality kit. They could have turned this into a win for great products and conscientious gun use. Instead, they are taking their NRA talking points and leaving the state. Well done guys, you've turned the situation into a "lose/lose".
Marc Kuffler April 12, 2013 at 01:11 pm
Some time ago NYC passed harsh anti-smoking laws and tobacco companies moved thousands of employeesRead More out of the city to smoking (and gun) friendly cities like Richmond, VA.. Nobody protested or seemed to care. I know the tax base in a place like NYC is substantial however I think CT is a better place to do business than Boston or NY. If PTR chooses to leave, they need to be ready for hiring new workers and recruiting new suppliers and paying higher fees for costs like shipping. Maybe they should read the legislation first?
bordwithbs April 11, 2013 at 01:40 pm
correction: tax, not "ax"
FriendlyCritic April 9, 2013 at 03:26 pm
Repeated complaints about the way this monthly "article" is presented, multiple usersRead More reporting that it is confusing and not helpful. Mark continues to copy and paste this "story" as is. Thanks for caring about your readers, Mark!

Why is it that whenever our pathetic politicians need more money the only thing they can think of isRead More "what can they tax"? or codespeak "where can they raise revenue"? Does it never occur to them that maybe they should CUT SPENDING? This really ticks me off.

Malloy's energy plan was over 200 pages. The heating oil and propane tax were about 15 pages of it.Read More I wonder what other parts of his plan will be implemented and how they will adversely affect our state?

I rarely see many carts unreturned at Aldi's in Danbury unless it's raining hard, or under 20Read More degrees. Even then, the most I've seen not returned are half a dozen. Next door to Aldi's is the Dollar Tree, Denney's, an empty Ritz Camera, a veterinary clinic being rebuilt. If you see many empty carts, it's worth a few bucks in a minute or two just to connect them.
g March 14, 2013 at 10:24 am
Dan, If the poor need carts to bring food home, I don't think the markets are stopping them based onRead More the news report. Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect the poor to return the carts once they have finished with them?

those who think chick-fil-a is anti -gay are rather ignorant and never took the time to look intoRead More it. The big issue that happened last summer all occurred because the CEO stated his OPINION. and if one were to ask most homosexual people, what he said was not hate-speech in the least (I did ask). He said that he believed and supported the biblical idea (let's face it, it is biblical) of marriage between one man and one woman. That is all he said. As for chick-fil-a supporting anti-gay movements, I only found evidence of that happening once, and it was the decision of an independent chain, and not chick-fil-a as a whole, so boycott that chain if you must. Otherwise the company has NOT stated they hate gays, or won't hire them, or whatever it is. As a matter of fact, they DO hire them. I've worked with chick-fil-a for the past 6 years, and in that time I have worked with several homosexuals, and still do. They themselves have no problem with the company, and were shocked by the ignorance that went on last summer. The entire thing was a giant over-reaction on everyone's part: the liberals, and the conservatives.

FriendlyCritic - Since you are so "holier than tho" and seem to know everything, give us aRead More recommendation for a healthy restaurant? And i'm just curious, if they are against gay marriage, would you still recommend them? Also, were you an English major?
FriendlyCritic March 11, 2013 at 07:37 pm
That would require actual effort on Langlois' part, rather than just republishing a list. In otherRead More words, don't hold your breath. Our editor doesn't care about serving the needs of this city, just doing the bare minimum to hit is quota of stories for the day and collecting a paycheck.
NewMildew March 11, 2013 at 06:41 pm
I don't get it either. When these used to be posted in the News Times, they would list it in a muchRead More easier way. It would say something like this: "Joe's scored 87 for presence of rodents, unsafe food handling practices, improper refrigeration."
FriendlyCritic March 11, 2013 at 06:36 pm
Because our editor is lazy.

I live in Danbury and work in New York and adding tolls would be ridiculous!. There are so many waysRead More in and out of Danbury and all I would have to do is drive on the local roads and puff no tolls.

We pay a tax to shop there -- it's called a sales tax, especially now that clothing is no longerRead More exempt!

I commute every day from Danbury to Greenwich by driving West on I-84 and down I-684 because CTRead More isn't self sufficient on its own highways - going down Route 7 to either the Merritt or I-95 would be awful. CT shouldn't make it hard for its own citizens to get to/from work.
FriendlyCritic February 13, 2013 at 01:21 pm
I didn't say you should reword it, I said you should tell the bigger story. Give it some relevance,Read More rather than just republishing a list.
Mark Langlois (Editor) February 13, 2013 at 11:57 am
Friendly - (John) - I don't reword the health reports for the same reason the health departmentRead More doesn't reword the health reports. The words come from the Public Health Code. Each restaurant got an inspection report with these words on it. They signed the report. The report is accurate and not open to debate. Thanks for the close eye, as always, Mark.
Mark Langlois (Editor) February 13, 2013 at 11:49 am
Hi Anita, Windmill is a good choice. 7 and 9 below the name refer to section numbers in theRead More Connecticut Food Service Inspection guide. 7 = Food protected during storage, a two-point demerit. 9 = Handling of food, a two point demerit. The health department doesn't list the less important one-point violations. So it lost four points on 7 and 9 and another one point along the way. 95 is the total score.
