What a conversational waste of time. Whatever the "facts" are surrounding theRead More "report", the simple fact is this is a microcosm of the full "agenda" to ban firearms. This is a broad based misinformation leg geared toward attempting to link firearms and their usage with some vague psychological malady. The simple fact that this conversation is being maintained IS the goal of this....to keep this ridiculous conversation in the forefront of public discussion....a form of deflection.
Thomas Paine July 24, 2014 at 07:34 am
Yes Mom, you must be correct in disregarding the CDC own's work because you see yourself on theRead More correct side of the issue. You easily dismiss the most thorough examination of gun-related research ever undertaken because the results of that survey do not comport with what you "know" "has" to be true. That that body of prior research included sources unfriendly to gun-owning seems to be missed by you. Funny, but this is how so much climate change "research" is done and becomes consensus but I am sure you "accept" such a process in those instances. Be that as it may and whether the CDC was supposed to identify problems or actually summarize results, they found out that gun owners are less likely to be injured during a crime, defense gun uses are real and frequent, mass rampage shootings are rare and declining in number, gun control "interventions" are, at best, ineffective, and stolen guns or those bought through the so-called "gun show loophole" are really not a factor in criminals getting guns. All of these crush the perceptions of gun control people but the last one may be the most crushing because that is the rationale that CAGV and others use (keep guns out of public's hands and they cant be lost/stolen) for trying to keep guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. Sorry Mom, but all a "new" 3-5 year study by the CDC will do is review the same data that they reviewed in this dataset. What they will find is that the number of citizen gun owners and number of guns owned have soared over the past 20 years at the same time that gun violence in nearly every form has declined. They will find what CAGV has already acknowledged - that ~90% of all gun violence involved illegal handguns possessed by those illegally and used in criminal activity in inner cities. They will observe that most gun violence is perpetrated by and upon young men of color. They will observe that the US' "gun violence problem" has little to nothing to do with rifles (even evil assault weapons) and does not involve the law abiding gun owners in anything approximating their rate of gun ownership. THAT is what the CDC will find Mom and this will become a case of "be careful what you wish for" because those well documented, non-emotional, peer-reviewable findings will blow apart all of the narratives you use to argue for the disarmament of your fellow, law-abiding citizens. >>> I am done with you too now. Good day.

Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her. I experiencedRead More it first hand also. It was this organization called consumer loan firm (C.L.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan. But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now. My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: consumerloanfirm@gmail.com and get a loan from them. Thanks
This guy deserves his bad reputation.

You are basing your ideas on something you've read published by someone you don't know, more thanRead More likely. I am basing my opinion on 25 years of experience in Human Resources, setting salary ranges, recruiting, hiring. NO ONE ever told me to hire a woman at a lower rate than a man. Hiring ranges and salary offers were based on the person's experience. I was not talking about company published surveys. Companies don't publish surveys of that kind, and if they did - I would have been the person designing and creating it. Yes, this whole gender pay gap is BS, because it is based on "survey data" that is not put together properly.

Frank in bury. If you are old enough to remember the O,Neil budget fiasco that resulted in theRead More implementation of the state income tax of 4.5%, the alternative was a 12% sales tax. @Gus, counties don't actually mean anything in CT, just geographic borders. Bridgeport is as much ofRead More a money suck as any city in the state, and that's in FFC. There's plenty of affluent communities in New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield counties (and elsewhere) that pay their fair share. Fairfield County does pay a proportionally high amount of taxes, but that is in a select few towns - definitely not northern or eastern FFC, which is more in line with other parts of the state.

Paula, you'd actually have to show me where I am whining about what you say Im whining about. MyRead More view of the situation is that no one seems to be winning. And it is derived from a liberal point of view that borders are bad things. So we have kids in jails, mothers who no longer have their kids nearby, and border towns that are inundated and strapped for resources. What I see is the border town churches--the one's that are excoraiated for their 'hateful' attitudes the primary organizations that are doing their best to help these kids. People like yourself, I dont see actually helping, unless you think blogging is helpful? People who say they want their tax dollars to go there instead of to the Dept of Defense (me too by the way) but who cant comprehend that the taxpayers are the exact people you villify and the non-taxpayers are the one's you hail as iconic. When you tell me that you view occupy people as sponges and non-contributors to society instead of Exxon, we will be aligned. Do I think that Wal-mart benefits from our social welfare system--yep I do. But thats where unions should step in, not the government. because when government gets involved in anything, it messes things up. I have discussed, but not yet booked getting a ticket and spending a week on the border towns trying to help. I havent committed yet-because Im hoping somebody else joins me. Im not gonna tell you ive done something i havent, but I also dont think that im a better person if I repudiate others as you feel is being a good person. If you tell me you are right there in the trenches -bravo-if youre just anther liberal who makes their life's mission correcting the actions or non-actions of others, while not doing anything real--then who cares . Ive spent a good part of my life trying to help others. And each time I see liberals like yourself lecturing, and my experience is that the people who actually roll up their sleeves are republicans. So prove me wrong-but not fake prove me wrong. But my sense is you actually think you are a good person because you tell others to want to help.
