The School of Visual and Performing Arts was founded in 2007, combining the departments of visual arts, music and theater. The university dates its music teaching to the students who first studied music at the university in 1905. The university enters the 21st Century with an MFA degree in Illustration and Painting. Students attending this school have opportunities to perform or display their work in New York City venues, and as the program grows the university hopes to tap into the New York art and drama scene more frequently. Musicians at WCSU perform in concerts, operas and in the WestConn Jazz Festival.
