James Schmotter, university president, is visible at many campus events. He hosts several "Pizza with the President" events each semester, giving him time to meet with students. Schmotter joined Western Connecticut State University in August 2004 as president, after serving as the Dean of Haworth College of Business and as a professor of management at Western Michigan University and a professor at Northwestern University in Chicago. He also served as Dean of Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management for 14 years.
