There is an extensive history to this church and the grounds it sits upon, formerly the site of a farmhouse. The tall tower in the center is located where the silo once was, and the church was designed in the shape of a dove, as St. Gregory was said to always have doves on his shoulders. The church's cornerstone was blessed by Pope John Paul II when parishioners brought it to Rome in 1981.

St. Gregory's boasts more than 1,500 parishioners. The church's many programs include catechism, ministry to the sick, youth groups and CrossRoads, an intergenerational discussion group.
