Horton Hears A Who?-"Seussical The Musical" at the Ives Concert Park Friday & Saturday

Seussical the Musical this Friday and Saturday at the Ives.

Do you remember the magic of Dr. Seuss? Before Wii and Play-station, Dr. Seuss's illustrations and rhymes were our outlet to a magical journey of imagination.

"Seussical The Musical", part of the Newtown Savings Bank Fine Arts and Family Series, comes to the Ives Concert Park stage, shows Friday night, July 8th at 7:30pm, and this Saturday, July 9th at 2:00pm.

The show is being staged by the Western Connecticut State University's theatre and arts department. It is being directed by Christina Kalafut, a recent theatre department graduate of WCSU.

The performance will be unique as the audience will be seated on the stage, all seating is covered, and the magic of the characters will be close by."Seussical the Musical is all about using your imagination and achieving your dreams no matter what.  I think this is a very important message to communicate to children.  The adults can relate as well to the messages portrayed.  Therefore, making Seussical an enjoyable experience for the entire family" explained Christina Kalafut.

"Dr. Seuss' books are filled with inspirational messages making him one of the greatest children's authors of all time.  My favorite Dr. Seuss character is Horton the elephant from Horton Hears a Who, who happens to be a major character in the show.  Horton's message is to never give up and to stick with what you believe in even if others don't.  Children will also relate to the tale when they live the story through the imagination of JoJo.  Seussical is not only a magical experience for children, but for the entire family.  It's a show you won't want to miss!" she said.
