Attention Yankee and Red Sox Fans...it's September

Yankee- Red Sox Rivalry Alive and Well.

Danbury

I do not hate the Boston Red Sox. Let me repeat that, I do not hate the Boston Red Sox. At least, that's what I've said a few times when watching a game with friends in year's past.

Afterall, the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004 and again in 2007. They had fun players like Manny, Big Pappi, and Johnny Damon. They had gritty competitors like Varitek, Youkillis, and Pedroia. It was tough to hate them anymore.

The curse of the Bambino was over. Bucky Dent, history. Bill Buckner, all was forgiven. Aaron Boone, well that one was just awesome.

So we come to September 2011. The Yankees have clinched a playoff berth, and the Red Sox have fallen from first place into a tie for the wildcard playoff berth. They have only won 6 games in September, while losing 19. The lost to the last place Baltimore Orioles last night, while the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Yankees. Boston and Tampa Bay are tied with 2 games remaining for the final playoff spot in the American League.

Could it get any better? Probably not.

Are Yankee Fans rooting for the Orioles and Rays? Of course.

Is Red Sox Nation complaining that Joe Giraidi is resting his best players for the last 2 games? Of Course....and NO ONE complains better than Red Sox fans.

Is the Evil Empire truly Evil? Only in the best ways.

The New Curse will need a nickname if the Sox lose, so please start working on your clever suggestions.

So friends...The Rivalry is Alive and well. If you've forgotten how much fun it is to root against the Red Sox when you're a Yankee fan, this is a great opportunity to rekindle that spirit.

For the next two nights, do some scoreboard watching. Root for the Rays and Orioles. Go to a local sports bar, we have many...Pippas, TK's, Mollys...and enjoy this great season ending competetion with some friends. If you see me there, forgive my happiness. I just love Baseball...and the New York Yankees.
