School System Evaluating Vacations

In a telephone survey, the Danbury School system is questioning parents about what the school system should do about the mounting number of days off from school.

In a robo-call to Danbury school parents late Monday afternoon, the city school system asked parents what it should do about more snow days.

It appears as though the school system is considering three options. Take away days from the February break, the April vacation or the summer vacation.

The telephone survey asks if parents prefer that the school eliminate the February break of Feb. 18 and Feb. 21. That is one option, if the schools take more snow days.

The telephone survey then asks if parents prefer cutting into the April vacation, which is a week long, without cutting into Good Friday. The vacation days that would be eliminated are April 18, 19, 20 and 21.

Both of these options were offered if more snow days are taken. If a parent picked an option, they did not hear the third option, but it was mentioned earlier in the call.

The survey itself was made after 5 p.m. Monday, and school officials could not be reached to discuss this survey or their ideas about taking more days in June.
