Millinery Calendar for the Hatter in You

The Danbury Museum & Historical Society Partners with Western Connecticut State University to Create 2012 Calendar

Through the efforts of the Western Connecticut State University Publications and Design Department and the Danbury Museum & Historical Society Authority, comes the creation of a 2012 companion calendar based on the Museum's latest exhibit, “Magnificent Millinery: Three Centuries of Women's Hats in Danbury. The exhibit will be running through October 15, 2011.

Paul Steinmetz, Director of University Relations for WCSU said, “We try to find ways to support the community and this calendar provides the perfect opportunity to do so. Through this project, the museum and the university combine resources that create a sense of history as well as an idea about the potential of the region's future.”

Each month of the year is illustrated with a stunning photo that showcases a hat from the exhibit collection. All of the photos are the work of WCSU photographer professor and local business owner, Catherine Vanaria.

“We're grateful to WCSU for their offer to partner with us to produce this wonderful calendar in support of the museum and Cathy Vanaria's exceptional photographs. Their assistance in raising awareness and funds on behalf of the museum is a testament to their commitment to the community,” stated Brigid Guertin, Executive Director of the museum.

The calendar will be sold to raise needed funds for the museum and will be available for purchase at the museum gift shop and during the upcoming 'Taste of Danbury' event September 10&11 at the museum booth and will be sold for $15.00 each.
