Here are five interesting things to do this weekend with the children, including library magic, parents and toddlers, parents and pre-schoolers.

Learning together from birth to 18 months is sponsored by the Family Literacy Center, a Board of Education program in the city of Danbury. The program takes place from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Friday at 49 Osborne St., Danbury. For older children the center offers Learning together from 19 months and older from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Friday at the center. Parens of young children can consider an afternoon of fun Saturday with the "Off to a Great Start," program from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Broadview Middle School. The program offers parents ideas about programs and activities for pre-school children, and help with registering children for kindergarten and amusements for the children. The Danbury Community Orchestra and the Danbury Preparatory String Orchestra will perform Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Ives Concert Hall, Western Connecticut State University, 181 White St.This is a combined performance including 100 Musicians. The Danbury Community Orchestra will perform the Baccanale from Samson et Dalila. And Stravinsky's Berceuse & Finale. The event is free and open to all. The American Girls Club will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Danbury Public Library. This meeting will cover the American Girls Doll book series book called, "Secrets in the Hills." The event is free and open to all.
