Former Danbury High School Swim Team Captain Honored

Nadine Edwards of Danbury, team captain for the Danbury High School Swim Team, was named Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the Northeast-10 Conference. This release came from Bentley University.

Bentley University sophomore Nadine Edwards, a 2011 Danbury High School graduate, has been named the Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference for her performance in dual meet wins against Brandeis University and Gordon College.

In the two meets, Edwards won four individual events, participated on two winning relays and was second in another relay. Against Gordon, she placed first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:01.52) and the 100 butterfly (1:07.78) and was a member of the Falcons’ winning 200 medley relay (1:57.49). She was first to touch in both the 200 free (2:03.21) and the 500 free (5:27.67) against Brandeis, and also helped Falcons win the 200 free relay (1:48.07) in that meet.

Last year, as a freshman, Edwards became the fastest distance swimmer in the program’s history as she took possession of the school records in the 500 free, 1000 free and 1650 free. She broke the 500 record four times, lowering it a total of 16.76 seconds to 5:06.02, and took 10 seconds off the 1650 standard (10:36.67) and bettered the 1650 mark by more than 20 seconds with a time of 17:47.03.
