PARENTS SEE-Parents Supporting Educational Excellency

PARENTS SEE-Parents Supporting Educational Excellency is a free 12 week course for parents. It begins with a Sat. Retreat on Sat. Feb 26, followed by 12 Wed. nights.  A light dinner is served each night and child care is provided.  Each night participants answer a question around how schools set policies, how budgets are designed, how to read your child's test scores, and how to effectively advocate for schools.   Participants attend a Danbury Board of Education Meeting,  round table with the Superintendent, host a community dinner and learn from other in the community on how to become effective advocates for change.

Participants from previous sessions have been surprised at how complex educational polices are but are now comfortable in advocating for change.  One parent commented on how she now volunteers weekly in her son's school and talks freely with her child's teacher.  Another parent is comfortable in speaking with Board of Education Members.

Pre-registration is required. For more information call Danbury Public Schools Extended Learning Programs at 203-830-6508  or 203-797-4733 or fill out the registration form at www.danbury.k12.ct.us
