"Eat, Breathe, Dream" Community Wellness Seminar Series

January is the month when many of us turn our attention to ways to improve our lives in the New Year. While resolutions often include habits that will get us into better physical shape, reducing stress and cultivating better mental and emotional shape can provide huge rewards. That's why the Women's Center of Greater Danbury invites everyone to start 2011 off right with a new, free three-part evening seminar series, "Eat, Breathe, Dream."

Our experts will share their easy, affordable ideas for improving your diet, relaxing your body, and lifting your spirits in the coming year. The workshops begin on Thursday, January 20, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., with "Eat," which features Super Food Mart Registered Dietitian Jacqueline Gomez, who promises to stir up some fun with her healthy winter recipes for busy people on a budget. A light supper based on one of her recipes will be served.

Relaxation will be the theme of the second program, "Breathe," on Thursday, January 27, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  Popular instructor Maire Hanna will stretch our bodies and our spirits with her gentle stress reducing techniques. Participants will learn breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, imagery techniques and meditation. No special equipment is required, just comfortable clothing and a towel or mat.

Our "Dream" evening, scheduled for Thursday, February 3, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., welcomes back guest speaker Nancy Weston. Always a favorite, Nancy has organized and led dream groups and workshops for over 20 years. Certified in several dreamwork training programs, Nancy believes that unlocking dreams is one of the best avenues toward health and wholeness.

While we encourage registration for the entire series, participants may also elect to attend individual evenings. Attendance is limited to 15 guests per evening, so please register early by calling Chrissy at 203-731-5200 ext. 202. All programs are free and held in the Women's Center Community Room, 8 West Street, 2nd floor, in Danbury. Thursday, February 10 is the snow date.
