Several issues can delay the opening.

First, professional development days Monday and Tuesday were canceled. Wednesday may be a make-up professional development day, but that will be decided on Wednesday.

Three schools are without power Monday. They are Danbury High School, Pembroke Elementary School and Ellsworth Avenue School, according to Deputy Schools Superintendent Bill Glass, Ed.D.

One reader said Stadley Rough Elementary is also out of power. CL&P said late Monday restoring power to schools is one of its priorities. Danbury has another. Restoring power to the sewer treatment plant on Newtown and Plumtrees Road. It has been running on generator power since about 6 p.m. Sunday, according to public works director Antonio Iadarolla.

A second issue is many teachers drive to Danbury from other towns and some of those towns have power problems and downed trees. That could interfer with the smooth opening of school on Thursday.

These issues may be resolved in time for school to open on time Thursday.
