Danbury Schools Facing Higher Standards, Challenged Students

Danbury Schools are facing children who can't compete in English and they have trouble in their native language, too. The following video was shot and edited by Danbury's John Neumuller.

At the same time that the state is raising its standards in kindergarten, first and second grades, the city's student population is challenged in both English and in their native language.

Superintendent of Schools Sal Pascarella and Deputy Superintendent of Schools Bill Glass discuss the situation facing Danbury Public Schools and English Language Learners in the city's schools.

The Board of Education will meet Monday at 7 p.m., and will likely adopt next year's budget. For a complete video of that meeting, turn to Comcast Cable channel 23 at 7 p.m. Saturday for John Neumuller's show.
