WLAD The Voice of Danbury, Silent..................

Does WLAD radio 80 have an obligation to greater Danbury to air Progressive ideas as well as conservative ideas? What do you think?

Saturday September 8 WLAD Radio 80 held a open house to welcome listeners to their new studios in Danbury.  I was so excited to meet Dave Renelli that I put on my best OCCUPY DANBURY t-shirt.  I picked the one with the, "WE ARE THE 99%" on the back, and decided to pay a visit to WLAD's new digs.    In an open house you should expect anything, but what they didn't expect was, that some of their listeners, wanted to be listened....... too.  What a novel idea.  Listening to what your customers want.  One would tend to think that a local radio station would be sympathetic and interested in, what their listeners felt we're important issues.  But not at WLAD.  It seems that when you have a monopoly in a town, you don't have to be concerned, with your customers.     WLAD invites listeners to call in with their opinions.  In the past, when I have called in, to Radio talk show host Dave Rinelli he usually hangs up on me.  Why?  Because he refuses to listen to anyone with an opposing point of view. Why?  Because he is so firmly entrenched in the Conservative Ideology that he refuses to listen to any other point of view. It's simple, it's Dave's way or the Hi-way.    Well folks, the open house that WLAD offered, gave me an opportunity to meet Dave, and talk to him face to face, where he couldn't hang up on me. I wanted to talk to Dave, Man to Man, mono e mono, and guess what Dave did?  Guess how he showed his conservative colors? He got up and walked out of the studio.  That's right, when you can't hang-up, walk out. Is anybody starting to notice a pattern here?     When Dave left the room, he ran for help. I felt bad for him, I thought to myself, this guy is afraid to face his accusers.  Why is he so scared?  What is he afraid of?  Why won't he have a civil conversation with me?  Dave is so big and powerful when he hides behind a micrphone and preaches his Conservative bull, but when it comes right down to it ,he couldn't man-up, why?    Dave felt he needed back-up from fellow employees, and I was quickly asked to leave the studio. When I refused to leave, Irv Goldstein the station manager approached me and we were able to have a nice little chat, which I recorded on my cell phone. Irv was aware that I was recording our conversation so I'm sure he won't  object to me posting his views.      Hey, it's his show, and who am I, to tell him how to run his business?  However, when Dave is allowed to conduct his business on free public air-waves, I feel he has an obligation to his audience to be "fair & Balanced"  Even the "FOXTITUTES" on Fox news allow opposing views to their Conservative Republican views.  Shouldn't WLAD treat it's audience with the same respect that Fox does?    What do you think? Does WLAD owe it's audience a platform where opposing views can be aired?  When WLAD has it's license renewed by the FCC are there any stipulations in regard to it's programming?  Does Irv Goldstein as general manager, of WLAD have an obligation to the community to let people voice opinions other then those of conservative republicans? What do you think?
