Chipotle Mexican Grill Taking Shape at Danbury Fair Mall

The former Uno Chicago Grill that closed in 2012 at Danbury Fair Mall is being replaced by Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Just about every building permit a restaurant can take out is open and pending at the new Chipotle Mexican Grill under construction at the Danbury Fair Mall.

"Nothing is closed yet. It isn't opening any day soon," said Sean Hearty, permit center director at Danbury City Hall.

Chipotle has permits out for its signs, food service, Zoning, Building, Fire, Plumbing, Electric and Fire Suppression.

"They're all pulled," said Hearty.

Chipotle replaces Uno Chicago Grill, which operated on the lower level of the Danbury Fair Mall on the Macy's end of the mall.

Chipotle Mexican Grills are open in Connecticut in Fairfield, Darien, Milford, Greenwich, New Haven, Hamden and Canton.

Can't wait. I was sad that Uno Chicago closed. I welcome this new addition to the mall.

Taco Bell with a bar. Mall mundane at best. Try El Ranchero or Pancho's Tacos downtown for autentico, not plastico.
