Empowering your kids, Empowering yourself!

Whenever there is a problem, I know I can find a solution.  So when our kids came to us with problems, I was always there, fixing their problems.  When they were struggling to get their college applications done, I did the information part of the applications for them.  If they were looking for a place to live for the summer, I would send them listing after listing of options.  When they didn't like what I served for dinner, I made them what they preferred, sometimes cooking three separate meals.

And of course, I did all of this in the name of love!

I didn't realize that by fixing their problems, I was taking away some great opportunities for them to learn skills.  They could have learned to problem-solve.  They could have learned from their own mistakes.  They could have learned organization skills.  They could have learned to prioritize, and so much more.  Positive Discipline helps parents learn how to empower their children, and not fix their problems.  It helps children learn all of these important life skills, and so many more.
