Republicans Lead With Boughton

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton will lead the Republican ticket with many familiar faces into the November election aiming for his seventh win and a place in the history books.

With a seventh victory, Boughton will make city history as the longest serving mayor.

"Rumor has it someone has been running for a long time and winning," said Republican Town Committee Chairman Sal Chieffalo. That won him a round of applause. Chieffalo warned the audience at the Palace Theater the election may be difficult.

"I just want to make sure you are all ready to help work very hard so we can run the table as much as possible in November," Chieffalo asked the crowd. The audience applauded after a two-second pause to sort out his question.

Following Boughton, the party nominatd Daniel Jowdy as treasurer and John Whitcomb as town clerk.

For the first ward, the Republicans nominated Irving Matthew Fox, and John Priola.
In the second ward, the party nominated Vinny DiGilio and Elmer Palma. In the third ward, the party nominated Joe Cavo and Christopher Arconti.

In the fourth ward, the party nominated Andrew DaCunha and Matthew Kennedy. In the fifth ward, the party nominated Daniel Kolwicz and William Nicol. In the sixth ward, the party nominated Steven Froehlich and Daniel Metrena. In the seventh ward, the party nominated Marina Loyola and Joseph Scozzafava.

The council at large candidates are Phil Curran, Michael Haddad Sr., Jack Knapp, Warren Levy, Gregg Seabury, Colleen Stanley and Andrew Wetmore.

For the Board of Education, the party nominated Eileen Alberts, Charles Alpuche, Gary Falkenthal, Michael Ferguson and Ralph Pietrafesa.

For the Zoning Commission, the party nominated Jeffrey Barath, Christina Chieffalo, Sally Estevan, Jeffrey Giegler, Alan Kovacs, Robert Laber, Robert Melillo, Carlos Valenzuela and Annette Zatkovich.

For the Zoning Commission Alternates, the party nominated Robert Arconti, Kevin Haas and Robert Oravetz.

For constable, the party nominated Michael Esposito, Louise McMahon and Michael Safranek.
