Mayors and First Selectmen from the Greater Danbury Region have come together to organize a Tribute to Newtown.  The gathering will be a way for the people of Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman to come together in this time of need.

The tribute will include various musical performances from choirs and musicians as well as remarks by community leaders including Western Connecticut State University President, Dr. James Schmotter.

Western Connecticut State University will welcome guests to this regional tribute event on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in support of Newtown, and everyone affected by the tragic school shooting last week.  A Tribute to Newtown will take place at the O’Neill Center on the Westside Campus of WCSU in Danbury, Connecticut.

 Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton explained, “We have all been affected by this tragic event in some way.  We are hoping that this gathering will provide solace and comfort during a time of confusion and sadness.”

New Fairfield First Selectman, John Hodge has been vital to the organization of this event; he explained, “We want individuals from the entire region to join us for an uplifting event that will enable them to move forward with a more positive outlook despite the sadness that we are all feeling.”
