Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy on Friday called projections that the state is facing a $1.278 billion budget deficit next year “ridiculous,” according to Connecticut News Junkie, an online news source covering the State Capitol.

In the News Junkie article, Malloy disputes the numbers, and said the state doesn’t face a deficit. The Governor says the deficit is based on the state increasing spending by more than 7 percent next year, which he said won't happen, according to the News Junkie story.

He goes on to say he will not seek concessions from state employees next year if reelected, the article states.

What do you think of the Governor’s comments about the projected deficit next year?

I have said here on the Patch many times...CT will eventually see tolls for EVERY inch of every interstate that runs through it. The money will go to the state's general operating fund and be siphoned off to pay back Dannel's political masters and constituencies. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

Tolls make sense. No one traveling through this state stops and buys anything here. It is too expensive. People fuel up in states around us and can easy drive through Connecticut without paying any taxes. They are freeloading. Tolls will capture this revenue. Every toll proposal I have seen puts tolls at the borders. Just need to make sure the money goes towards transportation costs. That is tough. The General Assembly has no problem raiding funds they set up.

So I pay tolls to gas up in Mass? Is there no hope?

Only if you take an interstate there. In theory gas prices would go down since that is the main source of transportation funds right now. This being Connecticut gas prices would probably go up.

This is your doing Mr. Malloy. Not the people of Connecticut. And when you lose in November, you can reflect back on this report and how foolish you and your so called party have been.
