Second Teen Arrested for Conspiring to Shoot Up Danbury High

A second Torrington teen was arrested for allegedly planning a Columbine-style shooting at Danbury High School.

A Torrington teen was arrested Tuesday on charges that he conspired with another area teen to go on a shooting spree at Danbury High School, the Register Citizen reports.

Torrington resident Peter Thulin was taken into custody and arraigned Tuesday on charges of conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree and attempt to commit assault in the first degree.

The charges are connected to the March arrest of Torrington 18-year-old Natalie Carpenter, who was allegedly planning assaults on Danbury and Stratford high schools on par with the 1999 tragedy at Columbine.

Carpenter was arraigned on the same charges in March and held on $300,000 bond.

Thulin was arraigned Tuesday and held on $200,000 bond pending his next court date, scheduled for May 6.

Thulin’s arrest warrant remains sealed — as was Carpenters for weeks after her arrest — however Register Citizen reporter Isaac Avilucea notes that Thulin’s lawyers expected authorities to allow the 19-year-old to turn himself in, rather than being taken into custody.

Avilucea also noted that Thulin is on several prescription medications and was previously admitted to the addiction services division of Connecticut Valley Hospital.
