Police: Connecticut Man Drove Drunk Through Brewster

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office provided the following information. It does not indiciate a conviction.

A 29-year-old Danbury, CT man is facing a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated following an arrest in the Village of Brewster over the weekend, police say.

Deputy Sheriff Frederick Mark stopped William S. Carchi-Yunga, of Elm Street, for driving erratically on Main Street around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to reports from the . 

During the stop, Mark determined that Carchi-Yunga was intoxicated, officials said. The defendant reportedly failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests.

Authorities charged Carchi-Yunga with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. He was held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where he awaited arraignment.

The Sheriff’s Office generally does not release blood-alcohol levels, as they may be considered evidentiary.
