Greenwich Police is hosting a weeklong training program for area marine police units to ensure those officers can execute a coordinate response for emergencies and other missions on Long Island Sound.

The course is part of two five-day training sessions that are being paid for by a $50,000 FEMA and Homeland Security grant and being led by two instructors from the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) that maintains national boating safety and training standards. 

The program is designed to ensure officers all have the same tactics and skills to respond to marine emergencies.
