This article was written by Ryan Buncher, Patch Editor, Nyack-Piermont Patch.

Doctors at the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital continued to list Rev. David Wentroble, 60, in critical condition as of 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Wentroble, the director of pastoral care at Nyack Hospital and a minister at Central Presbyterian Church in Haverstraw, suffered third-degree burns when he was caught in an explosion while pumping gasoline at the Wheels Gas Station in Danbury, CT Friday morning. He was first taken to nearby Danbury Hospital, then transferred to Bridgeport, which has the top burn unit in Connecticut. Wentroble lives in Danbury.

Nyack Hospital issued the following statement:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Reverand Wentroble and his family at this time."

Danbury Police and the fire inspectors are still investigating the incident, but have yet to determine a cause for the explosion.
