Cops: Middle Schooler With Hidden Knife Intended to Kill

The Broadview Middle School Student was charged Monday with criminal attempt to commit murder.

A 12-year-old Broadview Middle School student was arrested Monday after he allegedly brought a knife to school with the intent to harm some of his classmates.

Danbury Police said the student brought a knife to the school in a backpack and that he may have threatened his gym classmates or been planning an attack during that class.

Public officials, speaking on condition that their names not be revealed, said the student was confronted by a guidance counselor who wanted to open his backpack. The student reportedly fled into a bathroom and threw the knife out a window. Police recovered the knife.

Danbury Police said no one was injured in the incident and that the school was not put into lockdown at any point.

The boy, whose identity was not disclosed, was charged with weapons possession and criminal attempt to commit murder. He is reportedly in a juvenile detention facility awaiting a court appearance.
