Man Accused of Killing Wife Will Be Arraigned Today

Robert Bell is scheduled to appear in court for the first time since being charged with the murder of his wife, Svetlana Bell.

Robert Bell, the man accused of shooting and killing his wife at their New Fairfield home on Saturday night, will be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court today.

Bell, 63, was arrested Dec. 8 on a charge of first-degree manslaughter after police responded to his residence and found his wife, Svetlana Bell, 47, shot to death, according to the Associated Press.

According to a cached faculty profile from a private music school in Danbury, Svetlana Bell had been a string instructor at Cider Mill School in Wilton and a member of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. A teacher for 20 years, she had received her early instruction in music in Russia and had gone on to become a teacher in Connecticut after attending Western Connecticut State University in Danbury and Charter Oak State College in New Britain, the profile says.
