Main Street Fire

The Danbury Fire Department responded to a fire Saturday at about 10 a.m.

The Danbury Fire Department extinguished a fire in an apartment at Ives Manor, 198 Main St., Saturday before it could spread to other apartments.

Fire Chief Geoff Herald said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and an unattended candle is suspected. Herald said no one was in the apartment when the fire broke out. No one was reported injured in the fire.

The fire was contained to the one apartment, which suffered smoke and water damage, and an office below the apartment suffered water damage. Herald said the Danbury Housing Authority, which owns the building, is looking for another apartment or house where the tenant can live while the apartment is made ready for occupancy.

I wish there was a picture of the actual apartment building. It's frustrating because many of the pictures for the articles on patch don't highlight the article at all

No surprise and people living there have complained for some time as to the safety conditions etc. Look up Ives manor justice

hello, the picture up top IS the building. the rest of the building is too wide of a shot to get from side street level.

Is it true, the Truck Company was first due?? Where were Engine Companies 21 and 22???

Is it true that engine 21 should have been first due to this fire but it was closed in order to staff the special response SUV for medical and service calls? Did this cause engine 24 to have to come all the way from Eagle rd? That sounds dangerous.
