The family of Lauren Rousseau, 30, a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, held her funeral Thursday and hundreds of people filled the First Congregational Church on Deer Hill Avenue.
Lauren wanted to a teacher "from before she even went to kindergarten" Lauren Rousseau's family said in a brief statement released Saturday. Lauren worked as a subsitute teacher looking for a full-time position after graduating from the University of Connecticut, and she worked part-time at Starbucks on Mill Plain Road. She had just recently taken a permanent substituting job at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Rousseau's mother Terri issued a statement on her daughter's death that was heart-wrenching in its brevity.
