Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms, Hail Possible Tonight

The National Weather Service warns of bad weather – including hail - throughout New Haven County and other parts of Connecticut.

 

Bethany, Woodbridge and the rest of New Haven County could be in for a rough day. The National Weather Service warns that storms this afternoon and especially later tonight “could produce small hail, gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning.”

The National Weather Service Prediction for Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening are as follows.

  • Thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
  • Tonight Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could be severe. Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

A hazardous weather alert says that a slow-moving cold front is moving through the area on Friday afternoon and early Saturday, which could more more “thunderstorms with very heavy rain and gusty winds.”

There’s a high of 83 degrees expected today, with a low of 63 at night. Rainfall could reach a quarter of an inch.
