Firefighters Rescue Dog in Pond off Franklin Street

A dog lost its owner.

Danbury Fire Department Liet. John Halas, Firefighter Greg Korotash, and Firefighter Nate Chapin responded to a call Tuesday saying a dog was trapped in the ice at 200 Franklin St.

The firefighters used cold-water rescue suits to pull the trapped dog to safety. The dog only had a City Tag and the DPD Animal Control Officer responded and took the dog back to locate the owner.

"The dog was doing fine," said Deputy Fire Chief TJ Wiedl. "There's more to the story today."

Wiedl said the owners visited the fire department Tuesday night, and were directed to Danbury Animal Control.

"I'm pretty confident they've been reunited by now," Wiedl said.
