Fire Department Douses Train Fire

The Danbury Fire Department extinguished a fire in a train car on White Turkey Road Extension Sunday.

Construction debris destined for disposal caught fire in a train car Sunday afternoon at about 4:15 p.m.

The was able to contain the blaze without damage to anything else, said Assistant Fire Chief Bernie Meehan, who was at the fire alongside White Turkey Road extension Sunday.

Meehan said the department received the call about about 4:15 p.m. and it was extinguished by about 5 p.m. Because the train was parked along the tracks beside White Turkey Road, the department used a ladder truck to spray water on the fire. There was no closer approach.
