FCI Danbury Contractor Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of Inmate

Federal contractor pleads guilty in U.S. Federal Court to trading contraband for sex at FCI Danbury.

The United States Attorney for Connecticut reported a 45-year-old man from the Bronx pleaded guilty Tuesday to engaging in sexual acts with a female inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury.

Acting U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly said Steven Wolff, 45, of the Bronx, N.Y., pleaded guilty Tuesday before United States Magistrate Judge Holly B. Fitzsimmons in Bridgeport to one count of sexual abuse of a ward. Daly reported that when Wolff was working as a utilities systems repair operator foreman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, on multiple occasions between July 2011 and November 27, 2011, Wolff and the victim met privately in the boiler area of the prison facility and engaged in sexual intercourse.  In addition, Wolff provided contraband including hair dye, candy, greeting cards and over-the-counter medication to the inmate.  Contraband was also provided to another inmate who acted as a lookout during the illicit sexual activity.
Wolff is scheduled to be sentenced by Senior United States District Judge Warren W. Eginton in Bridgeport on October 29. Wolff faces up to 15 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.
