Danbury Police: Tricky Driveway

Danbury Police said a man DUI on Chestnut Street tried to drive away, forward, when confronted by police. He hit the car parked in front of him. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.

Danbury Police said they were called to a driveway in the area of Wildman and Chestnut streets for a man passed out in a car at about 1 a.m. Sunday. Police said when they arrived, the saw the driver, later identified as Julio Fajardo, was slumped over in the seat. He'd stopped in the roadway in front of 39 Chestnut St. Police asked Fajardo to step out of the car. Police said he gave them a look and hit the gas. His car hit the car in front of him. Fajardo was removed from the car, and he smelled of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. He was charged with driving under the influence, following too closely, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He was held on a $2,500 bond.
