Danbury Police: Tow Truck Driver Assaulted

Danbury Police said a man injured a tow truck driver who was taking his car from a White Street lot. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.

Luis Toledo, 43, of Crown Street, Danbury, was arrested by Danbury Police after he became angered that his vehicle was being towed by Federal Towing from a private parking lot at 147 White St.  Police said Toledo got into his vehicle and drove off after it was being hitched to a tow truck.  Police said it happened this way. The tow operator began to raise the rear end of the vehicle and while the vehicle was in the air, Toledo climbed into the vehicle and applied the gas causing the tow arm to break and the arm to strike the tow operator in the right  shoulder. Toledo than drove over the curbing and left the scene. The tow operator was treated and released at the Danbury Hospital for injury to his right arm. Shortly later,Toledo appeared at the Police department and was charged with: reckless endangerment, breach of peace, third-degree assault, first degree criminal mischief, and evading responsibility. He was released on $1,000 bond.
