Danbury Police: Prescription Fraud

Danbury police charged a Bedford Hills man with a criminal attempt to illegally possess narcotics.

Danbury police said they were called at about 6:30 a.m. Monday to Walgreen's Pharmacy, 75 Main St., on a report of a person attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription. Police said they met the suspect, Donald R. McCann, 29, of Bedford Hills, NY., and found he was carrying false identification as well as prescriptions written out in the name of the false identification. After deciding McCann's true identity and deciding the prescriptions were fake, police charged McCann with first-degree forgery, second-degree forgery, and criminal attempt to possess narcotics. McCann was released on a $25,000 bond for an appearance in Danbury Superior Court March 5.

This information was provided by the Danbury Police Department. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.
