Danbury Police: Marshall's Shoplifting, Robbery
Danbury Police said a Danbury man was charged with robbery and larceny following an incident Monday at Marshall's Department Store. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.
Danbury Police responded to a call from Marshall's Department Store Monday at about 9 p.m., where they charged Glenn Smith, 46, Diamond Road, Danbury, with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, breach of peace, interfering with an officer, threatening and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny. Smith was held on a $10,000 bond.
Police said Smith and a second man, who escaped, walked into Marshall's, and Smith left. Store security saw the second man attempting to steal merchandise. He was confronted, and while security led him to the security office, Smith came back into the store and after yelling at security to let the man go, police said Smith shoved the security officer. A fight ensued, with the second man fleeing the store. Smith was held and charged.
In an unrelated case, police said Nicholas Penna , 30, of Donnelly Drive, New Fairfield, was charged Monday on a superior court warrant for violation of probation. He was held on a $50,000 bond for court Tuesday.
