Danbury police reported a man pumping gas Friday morning burned himself seriously in a gasoline explosion at Wheels Gas Station, 27 Tamarack Ave at 6:23 a.m.
Police said the 60-year-old man from Danbury was pumping gas into his vehicle when an explosion occurred. The male was transported to Danbury Hospital with severe burns over most of his body.
He was then transported to the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital. The Danbury Fire Department responded to the blaze. The man is in critical condition. Danbury police had no update on this story Friday afternoon. Employees at Wheels declined to discuss the explosion.
