Danbury Police Log: Shooting, Violation of Probation, Burglary

The following information was provided by the Danbury Police Department. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.

Danbury Police were called to the area of Main Street at Danbury Commons Monday at about 7:40 p.m. on word there had been a shooting. Police said they found two men sitting in a car.

"They didn't know if they were the suspects or the victims," said Police Spokesman Thomas Wendel, so police asked the men to step out of the car.

They discovered one of the men had been shot in the lower leg. The man was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment.

Danbury police said the men were not cooperating with the police and the incident is under investigation.

In a separate incident, Danbury Police charged Almiro DeOliveira, Dean Road, Brookfield, with two counts of violating probation at about 10:30 p.m. Monday. DeOliveira was held on a $2,000 bond.

In a separate incident, Jeremias Cruz, 27, of East Pearl Street, Danbury, was charged with second-degree burglary at about 7:30 p.m. Monday. Police said they were sent to Franklin Street on a burglary complaint. The victim said she saw a Hispanic male climb into her window while she was sleeping, and she said the man climbed back out when he realized she was awake. She later helped police identify him when they found him on Main Street. Cruz was held on a $10,000 bond.
