New York man charged with DUI, police said, after finding him parked in a car in the middle of the street. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been found convicted in court. Danbury Police provided the following information.
At about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Officer James Grundman was on routine patrol when he came across a vehicle stopped in the middle of Washington Avenue and Southern Boulevard. Police said the vehicle was running and the operator had passed out. Investigation revealed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the operator, Manual Quito, 29, of Grand Avenue, Maspeth, NY. Quito failed a field sobriety test and was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, improper parking, failure to carry a registration card and failure to carry an insurance card. He is being held on a $5,000 bond. While processing Quito, Danbury Police found an outstanding warrant from the Connecticut State Police. He was charged on that warrant with: second-degree failure to appear, misuse of plates, driving under the influence and no insurance. Manuel's bond was set at $5,000.
