Danbury Police: Attempted Armor Car Heist

Danbury Police with help from the U.S. Marshals and Bridgeport Police charge three in attempted armored car heist in September. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been proven guilty in court.

Danbury Police investigating an attempted armored car robbery in September charged two men from Bridgeport and one from Fairfield Friday.

The men were charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, first-degree attempted larceny and first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery.

The investigation started in Danbury, but later included Bridgeport Police Detectives, the United States Marshal’s Service and Garda’s Internal Security Division. A similar robbery had occurred in Bridgeport in August.

According to the Danbury Police, the attempted robbery in Danbury took place at about 1 p.m. Sept. 27 on a Garda armored truck in the Chilli's parking lot at 81 Newtown Road. Police said the attempted robbery included one of the suspects dressed in a Garda uniform and impersonating a Garda employee.

 An investigation was initiated by the Danbury Detective Bureau and due to the professionalism of the truck’s crew, police developed a very accurate description of one of the two perpetrators, as well as the vehicle used.

 Based on their investigation, detectives learned a similar incident occurred in Bridgeport on Aug. 20. During the investigation a suspect was developed. While investigating this suspect a close connection between the suspect and a Garda employee was discovered. Police said from there police found a link to a second Garda employee with specific knowledge of the route that included Chilli’s.  This investigation included a number of search and seizure warrants including one on a residence at 1147 Pembroke St., Bridgeport.

On November  9,  2012 in the early morning hours, members of the Danbury Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force converged on three locations in Bridgeport and took into custody the below individuals.

Brandon Jordan, 28, Pembroke St., Bridgeport, was charged and held on a $250,000 bond. He worked for Garda. Steven Wright, 28, Forest Avenue, Fairfield, was charged and held on a $200,000 bond. Wright worked for Garda. Andre Williams, 28, Hancock Street, Bridgeport, was charged and held on a  was charged and held on a $200,000.
