Danbury Police: Assault, Assault, Assault

Danbury police charged David Chacon-Pinto, Franklin Street, Danbury, with second-degree assault, third-degree assault and breach of peace following an assault on Franklin Street early Sunday morning.

Police said they received a complaint from a man on Rose Hill Avenue at about 6 a.m. Sunday that he had been assaulted. The victim may have been intoxicated and had bruises and cuts on his face. He had a hard time telling police where the assault happened, although he was pretty sure it might have been Franklin Street.

Police Officer Matt Casazza took the information, drove to Franklin Street and walked until he found the blood. He then found a nearby security camera on a house, and after looking at the video, he was able to identify the suspect. Police charged Chacon-Pinto with the assaults and breach of peace, and held him on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to answer the charge in Danbury Superior Court Monday.

In an unrelated case, Danbury Police charged Sam Jones, 23, Wicks Manor, with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and interfering with a police officer. Police said they were called to his house on word of a domestic disturbance. Police said when he answered the door and saw the police, he slammed the door in their faces. His father was able to get him away from the door and let them in. Police said Jones had assaulted his father. He was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and upon bringing him to the police headquarters, they found he had two outstanding warrants. Police charged him with driving under the influence, failing to wear a seatbelt, and making an improper turn. On the second warrant, he was charged with assault on a medical personnel. Jones was held on a $5,000 bond for an appearance scheduled in Danbury Superior Court on Monday.

This information was provided by the Danbury Police Department. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.
