Danbury Police: Crack, Smack

The following information was provided by the Danbury Police. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.

Members of the Danbury Police Department's Special Investigations Unit were conducting surveillance near the North Street Shopping Center Tuesday, when they witnessed a drug transaction between two people. Police said the two people were John Matos, 25, of Bullet Hill Road, Danbury, and Joseph Usaty, 24, Nannawuk Road, Newtown. Matos was charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell, sale of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, and conspiracy to possess narcotics. He was held on a $2,500 bond. Usaty was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to possess narcotics. He was held on a $1,500 bond.

Danbury Police were called to Rowan Street at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday by a person who said someone was sitting in a blue car smoking drugs. Police responded, and found Christopher Carolina, 43, of 4 Rowan St., in a car with two clear plastic bags containing a rock-like substance and a large amount of cash. The rock-like substance tested out to be crack cocaine. Carolina was charged with possession of narcotics, and he was held on a $2,500 bond. He was arraigned in Danbury Superior Court Wednesday.
