Danbury Honeymooners Drown in Strong Currents

A Danbury couple who grew up together, separated and married on July 4, died while swimming in Costa Rica on their honeymoon, according to The News-Times.

The Danbury paper reported Bruce Loev and Ruth Rowe grew up in New York, moved apart, separately married and then after divorcing, rediscovered each other 25 years later.

She taught fifth-grade math in Pawling, N.Y., and he was an aviation civil engineer. The News-Times reported the Danbury couple married on July 4 and took a honeymoon in Costa Rica.

On July 10, Rowe and Loev, both of whom were active and athletic, drove to Playa Linda and decided to go swimming in the waters off Quepos.

Published reports said the powerful ocean currents off Playa Linda swept them far from shore. The couple's bodies were finally found four kilometers from where they started swimming.
