Waterbury Attorney Hired in Richter Park Assault Case, New Court Date

The assault case against Danbury man charged in Richter Park was continued Friday in Danbury Superior Court.

The case of the Danbury man charged with assaulting a ranger at Danbury's Richter Park was continued Friday to Oct. 18 at Danbury Superior Court.

In the original police report, Joseph Mooney, 48, 99 Boulevard Drive, Danbury, was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace following an incident at Richter Park Sept. 15 just before 5 p.m.

"He assaulted one of the rangers at the park," said Danbury Police Spokesman Thomas Michael. Mooney was released on a $10,000 bond.

In court Friday, paper work filed with the clerk said Mooney is now represented by Waterbury Attorney Leonard Crone. Mooney's new court date is Oct. 18.

Where the heck is Boughton? Why doesn't he speak up and control these people at Richter? No backbone I guess. This whole thing should have been dropped a long time ago! The guy did NOTHING wrong. Yet the "authorities" at Richter run that place like it's their own personal fifedom! Horrible, horrible management there!

It's called the legal system, if he did nothing wrong then he will be found innocent. If a person brings charges then they have to be investigated and go through the legal process. It's not the mayors job to tell someone not to pursue a criminal matter. I prefer he concern himself with important matters ,not what some either pompous, drunk or ill behaved golfers do or how they don't like how the golf course is run. Don't like it, then don't golf there!! It's because of people PJ and this Mooney guy, that I stopped golfing.

PJ, why should the Mayor intervene? This man physically assaulted a woman! There are witnesses and bruises to prove it! And you obviously haven't been to Richter in years...the management there knows what they're doing.

hey that woman is a menace and if anything SHE should have been arrested for wreckless endangerment of the DENTIST. She is tied into the Police so they choose to believe her she should be arrested for false charges and wrecklessness on her part. Anyone who has golfed over there knows she is an out of control nut.

There is NEVER any reason for a man to assault a woman at his son's birthday party unless it was self-defense.
