Burglary Larceny, DUI

Danbury Police charged one city man with burglary and larceny, and a second with driving under the influence and other driving violations.

Danbury Police charged Julio Vazquez, 35, Osborne Street, with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny Monday at about 12:40 a.m. Vazquez was held on a $10,000 bond for arraignment in Danbury Superior Court Monday.

Police gave this account of what happened a few minutes after midnight Monday involving Vazquez.

Danbury Police, "responded to a report of someone breaking into cars at 84 Elm Street. Officers found a witness, holding a man, identified as Julio Vazquez, 35, Osborne Street Danbury,  The witness reported that while upstairs in his bedroom, he heard someone opening cars doors. When he looked out the window, he saw a brown Ford Explorer parked in front of the house with the drivers door open and no one around.  He ran outside with only his boxer briefs on and found Vazquez trying to start his brother's car parked in the driveway. He held on to Vazquez while screaming for help and another neighbor called the police. Vasquez had a stolen wallet on his person from the vehicle and the keys to the Ford Explorer that had been reported stolen earlier from 46 Elm St. Vazquez is currently being held on a $10,000 bond and an ICE Detainer.

In an unrelated case, Danbury Police charged Jorge Malave, 43, of Morris Street, Danbury, with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, failure to drive right and using an improper license at about 2:25 a.m. Sunday. Malave was held on a $1,500 bond.

This information was provided by the Danbury Police Department. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.
