The Dalai Lama Isn't Everyone's Cup of Tea. Really? [Poll]

It's on some people's 'bucket list' to meet the Dalai Lama, while others aren't at all interested.

When Patch announced on Jan. 28 that the Dalai Lama was coming to in October, one of our readers commented that it was on her "bucket list" to meet him.

I could totally relate.

I don't consider myself Buddhist, but I have always been in awe of this spiritual leader and his teachings on peace and non-violence.

So when I mentioned to a few acquaintances and friends that the Dalai Lama is coming to Connecticut - Danbury no less - I was surprised how uninterested in the man a few of them were.

I guess we all have our own list of the top 10 people we would love to meet. The Dalai Lama is on my list.

Is he on yours?

How many people are going to be able to meet him or listen to him?
Will it be open to the public? Will only WCSU students be able to go? Is it open to Alums of WCSU?

Hi Danny,
The auditorium holds 3,000 people. It will be open to the public. It will be open to studends, alums and everyone else. There will be two sessions. One general and the second the next day talking about Buddhism. WCSU hasn't released ticket details. WCSU doesn't know about any special smaller receptions yet or cocktail parties or anything else.

I am deeply honored to hear that the Dalai Lama is coming to Danbury! After seeing him and hearing him speak at Newport ,R.I. a few years ago ,I considered that a HIGHLIGHT of my life and thought I would never have this experience again. The Dalai Lama emits such hope in humanity and leaves you with an indescribable feeling that only he can deliver as a human. I will consider myself twice blessed if I can see and hear him again and hope that is possible.

You need to educate yourself a little more on who this guy is and who's supporting him...........that would be you & me through the CIA. You should also take a hard look at what life was like for the average Tibetan, back before 1959 when his 'Holines' was steering the ship. The Chinese did these people a favor, and have actually been the 'man behind the curtain' for centuries. Before you start your high horse "Free Tibet" song & dance you might want to clean your own closet first...............you know....how about 'Free Hawaii' or 'Free Puerto Rico. American sheepdom at it's finest.

Lowes sells a 5 KW solar panel kit for $11,499 (installation not included Model #: GS-5000-KIT). TheRead More kit specifications indicate it can produce between 3,600 KWh to 8,400 KWh per year. In Connecticut 1 KWh costs around $.17+- depending who your energy producer is. When I multiply 8,400 times 17 cents, my calculator says the money saved by this $11,499 investment is between $612 to $1,428 per year. Green power from Con-Ed supplied via CL&P to my home costs an extra penny per KWh. This means I can avoid the $11,499 out of pocket and pay $36 to $84 per year to get the same green energy from my utility. Why would anyone pay $11,499 vs $84?
