School Safety

SECURITY GUARD AT SCHOOL I was going to my grandson’s school to see a performance in the gym at 2pm, When I arrived at the front door, it was locked and had a speaker and button to push to gain entry. I pushed the button twice but the security guard was busy and he didn’t respond. There was a line waiting for him to check them in.. One of the ladies in line reached back and opened the door for me. While waiting, several others came to the door and were let in by someone in line. When I got in front of the guard, he asked for my driver’s license and scanned it into his computer. Then printed a tag with the photo from my license (barely visible) and my name and stating that I was attending a performance. What kind of security is this? I could have walked in with a weapon. The guard was unarmed and never questioned why people were letting others in without his permission. The guard was from the Securitas Security firm. Please, let’s get the security of our young ones correct. A different protocol is needed at this school. Robert L.
