Obituary: William (Bill) E. Walker

William (Bill) E. Walker entered into eternal rest on Oct. 11, 2011.

William E. Walker, age 84, of Danbury, CT passed away Tuesday morning, October 11, at Danbury Hospital surrounded by his family. Born Dec. 4, 1926 in Waterbury, CT to Laura (Cadotte) Walker and William L. Walker, he was a longtime resident of Danbury. William was the beloved husband of Lise (Borduas) Walker for the past 60 years.

At age 16, Bill enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp becoming a radio operator and aerial gunner with the 31st Bombardment Squadron, 5th Bombardment Group serving as a Tech. Sergeant during World War II. Returning, Bill then graduated from Danbury High School and Waterbury Tech. with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed at Sperry Rail, and Schlumberger Corp. initially, and finished his career retiring after 27 years with the Perkin-Elmer Corporation.

Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his son, Michael of Danbury; son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline of New Milford; daughter Susan and husband Michael Hesik of Oxford; and daughter, Janice and fiancé Michael Edwards of Oxford. Bill also leaves behind his grandchildren: Gerritt, Brad, and Brianna; two great-grandkids, as well as several nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members.

Bill was an avid pistol enthusiast serving as a member and President of the Brookfield Gun Club; and was a member of the Danbury Men’s Club as well. He will be remembered for his love of traveling; a connoisseur of classical music; sharp intellect and wit; his gift of gab; and especially for his love of all animals.

The family would like to thank all those who have shared in Bill’s life. He will be sorely missed.

Funeral Information

Calling hours were held at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, on Sunday. A Memorial Service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church on 21 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT.
